Unlocking Net Zero – A Data-Driven Future for Sustainable Estates
How can data and digital tools be harnessed to drive effective, people-centred carbon reduction across the lifecycle of public sector buildings? This session brings together two pioneering case studies that demonstrate the power of data and technology in driving whole-life carbon reduction and informed estate planning.
Kier Construction will showcase their data-driven approach to cutting whole-life carbon across construction projects, sharing lessons from over a year of project-based analysis and innovation. Cardiff Metropolitan University will reveal how real-time technology-driven insights and empirical evidence enabled them to avoid £50M in unnecessary expansion and achieve a £5.1M (and 402-tonne CO₂) saving in just one year, all while putting people and wellbeing first. Driven by evidence , not assumptions - these project presentations highlight the critical intersection of sustainability, value, and user-led design.
